Guide to Federal Environmental Requirements for Small Local Governments

A Guide to Federal Environmental Requirements for Small Governments provides local governments and small communities with a comprehensive examination of federal environmental laws and regulations that may apply to their daily operations and activites. Each section represents an environmental law and is organized into subsections that provide a brief description of the law or rule, an explanation of how it may apply to communities, and the specific legal mandates that are required by the regulation. Additionally, the Guide provides helpful contact information for users who have questions or would like more information. The Guide was developed under contract from the Environmental Protection Agency ("EPA") by the National Defense Center for Environmental Excellence ("NDCEE"). The guide addresses only regulations and proposed rules published prior to February 1993. Readers should also feel free to contact LGEAN toll free 1-877-TO-LGEAN or e-mail lgean@icma.org.
