Local government operations may be regulated under state or federal environmental laws.  Examples of these operations are solid waste management and wastewater treatment. Environmental media refers to environmental topics that affect land, water, and air, such as indoor air and watershed.  Environmental law refers to the major environmental laws under which local governments are regulated, such as the Clean Water Act or the Clean Air Act.
