Scholarship Funds for Community Involvement Conference Available Through LGEAN
The International City/County Management Association (ICMA) is pleased to sponsor a limited number of scholarships for individuals interested in attending the 2005 Community Involvement Conference, who cannot attend without financial assistance for travel. The scholarships are for up to $1,000, which includes the conference registration fee, airfare or mileage, hotel accommodations, and meals on a per diem basis. Scholarship recipients are responsible for costs over the capped amount. Upon receipt of your application, you will receive confirmation via an email that it has been received. If you do not receive a confirmation within five business days, please contact ICMA (please note that it is your responsibility to confirm that ICMA has received your application before the deadline).
Eligibility
To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must be affiliated with or a representative of a local or tribal government (e.g., employees, elected officials, appointed members). Only one application per person will be accepted.
Criteria
The goal of the travel scholarships is to ensure representation from a balanced ratio of stakeholders at the conference. To determine who will receive offers of assistance, ICMA applies various criteria to evaluate applications and optimize broad participation in the conference. To this end, ICMA will evaluate applications as described below:
- Applicant must be employed by an eligible organization;
- Due to limited funding, only one scholarship per local or tribal government will be awarded; and
- Applicants agree to attend the conference between the dates of July 12 through July 14.
Terms
Scholarships recipients must agree to the following terms:
- Travel scholarships are limited to $1,000, and will include the $130 conference registration fee, airfare (capped at $400) or mileage, hotel accommodations (room and tax for July 11-15), and meals on a per diem basis.
- Flight arrangements must be made through ICMAs travel agent. ICMAs travel agent will select the least expensive flight option available within your preferred travel window. If you choose a more expensive flight, you will be required to pay the difference.
- A block of rooms will be reserved at the Hyatt Buffalo for scholarship recipients. The cost of the room will be covered under the scholarship, but recipients will be responsible for all incidentals.
- Applicants agree to provide boarding passes and all travel receipts for expenses over $25 to ICMA following the conference.
- All fees due to cancellations or changes in flights, airport origination, and departure dates are the responsibility of the traveler.
The deadline for applications has changed to June 17, 2005. Please disregard the deadline given in the brochure. Ten to fifteen winners will then be randomly chosen and winners will have their expenses reimbursed after the conference. Download the application form here. Return the form to:
